Shhhhh . . . were hunting knitting . . .
The first succesful sock toes I have knit in over 3 months!! These are for my Sockapalooza pal - and have to be done superquick - so the foot is going to be knit plain and I’ll let the colors do all the work. Heels will be pink. Depending on how fast I get the feet done, I may have time to slow down and do some sort of pattern for the leg - I’ll see when I get there.
Its a little hard to tell in the picture but the toes are pretty pink with a little green, and the body of the sock is a green and brown blend. Both colors are koigu.
More technical knitting comments below the cut.
I am a little stressed about size - my pal’s feet are a bit bigger than mine, and while I like my socks v. close fitting, she likes her’s loose. So for me these socks would be approx. 64 stitches (at about 10sts to the inch), hers are on 86 (for a 9.5″ foot). I hope they don’t end up too loose.
OTOH the stitch amount is showing me something that I’ve never seen in koigu before - pooling. I am glad that the yarn is a subtle variation so that it isn’t super pronounced, but I don’t think it harms the look of the sock at all.

I’ve seen that pseudo stripey pooling, when it stays consistent it looks great.
Was shopping today, and almost found tyedye onesies for TPTBNL….
so far it looks consistent - we’ll see what happens as I move up the foot - if it stays spiral I might consider a plain knit leg - although I am not sure I am willing to do anything quite that boring - or knit anything quite that repetitive - my brain might fall out.
Those are some very pretty sock toes.
If they are a little too loose, the recipient can probably just dry them a bit in the dryer. Sometimes when I’m in doubt about fit, I end up making socks in ribbing all the way down the leg and top of foot…I had to learn to like ribbing. lol If you’re really getting 10 sts/inch though, they’ll probably be fine.
Thanks! I’ll send the dryer suggestion on with the socks when they are finished. I’ll keep ribbing in mind for the next sock when size is such an issue.
Thanks for the reassurances!
I like those colors of Koigu. That look really nice together. I have never see it spiral like that either, but so far it looks good!
thanks for commenting! I am really pleased with the spiraling - it appears to be keeping up as I move up the foot.
