Blanket for the “Player to be Named Later”

Published by whichy at 5:29 pm under Knitting

So in this post I talked about looking for the perfect fiber/yarn for a specific project. The project is a baby blanket for my sister and brother-inlaw’s next baby.

I decided that considering the potential wear and tear on the new project and my inexperience with spinning, that I would go with a commercial yarn. I considered my yarn options, I wanted it to be, soft, wool, and machine washable- I decided to go with Socks That Rock Heavyweight yarn in three different colors, and do a swatch/patchwork blanket.

These are the colors I picked, I like that they are bright and high contrast - I really dislike namby-pamby pastel baby blankets. I am going to use 2 different size swatches, and am researching the patterns to use for them. I have made up a “pattern” so to speak. I seem to like diagrams in lieu of patterns. (Its funny that I hate knitting from charts)

    Looks marveous!
It reminds me a wee bit of the Rambling Rows blanket from Cottage Creations (the pattern for which is on my shelf somewhere… or was that the jacket that they made based on the blanket?)

I’m totally psyched that they’ll be living three blocks away.
Clearly, I can’t make a blankie for the player to be named later. I’ll have to think of something else to knit instead.
