Not a Math wizard take 2
The other socks I am knitting, they are top downs - 66 sts on size 1 needles (more sts on bigger needles than the other socks which are too big). They are too small, I am going to have to rip back the whole leg and start over. Maybe I’ll do them as toe-ups this time so at least I can do the trying it on as I go thing.

I love the try-as-you-go thing too… it turns me off to a lot of otherwise good sock patterns. I need to get a little smarter about how to reverse a top-down pattern to make it toe up…
It never ceases to amaze me how much the number of necessary stitches varies from yarn to yarn! it’s one of the reasons I like toe- up socks…
I start, I do the increasy thing… I put it on my toe… I increase more and try on… need more? cool, I keep increasing… no… I’m done, SWEET, i knit on…
Of course the sideways garter ribbing on Lucy Neatby’s top down socks also eliminates the need for a gauge swatch (or at least for counting stitches once you’ve found the fabric you like).
I hate making gauge swatches for socks
