Whee! I’ve been wanting to try this for a while, I am such a color whore, that I figured it would be really cool to try dying
my own fiber. I had to get all my ducks in a row (QUACK!), which I finally did

and my mom and I painted the basement a rainbow this weekend giving this a try. I read up a ton on the web, and generally followed the basic instructions at Spinning Athena . We used Jacquard acid dyes, and regular white vinegar. My mom has done some fiber dying of silk, cotton, and rayon in the past, but this was a first for both of us with wool and using these kind of acid dyes.

The other socks I am knitting, they are top downs - 66 sts on size 1 needles (more sts on bigger needles than the other socks which are too big). They are too small, I am going to have to rip back the whole leg and start over. Maybe I’ll do them as toe-ups this time so at least I can do the trying it on as I go thing.

Last weekend, I spend pretty much the whole weekend knitting. I swatched earlier in the week to make a pair of toe-up (I am going to do this until I beat it or it kills me) sock in Koigu KPM/KPPM. One of the reasons I wanted to do *these* toe up, is so I can get some idea of the height available to me to do a different pair of socks (similar style) top down.
So . . . 9sts to the inch on size 0s. 9 inch wide foot - 9*9 = 81 - 10% (for recommended negative ease in stockinette ) =72
Here begins the woe:

So you might be wondering why I might showcase this very unfortunate looking piece of knitting. I mean after all its just a small tube of circular knitting. But the key here is that I knit it on 1 32″ circular needle. I am prepping for trying 2 socks on 1 needle and this is my very first attempt at “Magic Loop”.
Probably not exciting to anyone but me. oh well

So there is the meme thingie from Grumperina going around, and after reading a few other folks’ version I decided to take a crack at it myself. (I know I rarely do these meme things anymore - but this one actually had real content instead of taking a test some random crackpot dreamed up)
10 Knitterly Things you didn’t know about me:
